Explain the Benefits
Why would a patient want to use MedKaz? If you let them know how it benefits them, they will be more likely to bring it to their appointments. Here are some of the top reasons:
- With MedKaz they enjoy better care because doctors can view their complete medical record and coordinate their care.
- It saves patients deductibles and copays, encouraging them to get the care they need when they need it, rather than deferring it.
- Patients can read their records, correct any mistakes, and better manage their care.
- They can easily share their records with all care providers during a visit and immediately following an encounter, as well as any others they choose, such as loved ones, care givers, and researchers.
Tell Patients to Bring it With Them
When you call patients to remind them of their appointment, you can also remind them to bring their MedKaz. Here is a simple script:
Hello (name). This is (name) from (name of practice). We are calling to remind you of your upcoming appointment at (Day and Time). As a reminder, please bring your MedKaz so Doctor (Name) can easily read your medical history during your visit and provide you with the best possible care.
In addition, you should encourage them to always carry it with them on their keyring with their house and car keys. They’ll not only have it with them when they visit your office, but also have it available in case of an accident or unexpected illness. (You use it alongside your existing EMR system and to coordinate your patients’ care — but you continue to enter your notes in your own EMR system.)
Have a Dedicated Computer
If your practice doesn’t allow outside devices on their main computer system, add a standalone computer in each exam room to use solely to read your patients’ MedKazes. (When you register as a MedKaz Provider, you will be paid a fee every time you use your patient’s MedKaz and upload a record to the MedKaz Server.
