Why do I need MedKaz 3.0? I'm healthy and rarely see a doctor.

For you, MedKaz 3.0 is like an insurance policy. It’s there when you need it. We hope you remain healthy. But when you do need care is not the time to start assembling your records, and they may not even be available. Your continued health and even your life may depend upon your physicians having instant access to them. With MedKaz, they do.

Why do I need MedKaz 3.0? My doctors have my records.

Each of your doctors has his or her records but not all your records from all your providers in different practices, hospitals or cities so they cannot truly coordinate your care. And your older records may not be available when you need them. Additionally, they can’t access any of your records if their system is shutdown whether from a power outage or ransomware.

MedKaz has all your records. With your permission, any provider can search and read them during your visit, even a telehealth visit, or when their computer system is down.

Why can't my doctors do what MedKaz 3.0 does?

Our approaches to sharing records are exact opposites.

MedKaz 3.0 focuses on you, the patient. It gives you control of all your records from all your providers which you can share with any provider you see at the point of care, or remotely following a visit. This is our Share-With-Providers feature and it works. MedKaz 3.0 also empowers you to participate in your care management.

Their approach excludes you. It tries to connect their providers’ record systems on the “fly” when you require care. After years of trying, it still doesn’t work.

How do my records get on my MedKaz 3.0?

It’s easy. Your providers are required by law to give copies of your records to you or anyone you designate.

  • Getting started: you send your providers our prepopulated Request Records and HIPAA Release forms which instruct them to send copies of your past records to us.
  • Ongoing: every time you see a doctor you tell them to send us a copy of their complete notes for your visit. (Our address is on your MedKaz 3.0.)
  • When we receive your records, we make them electronically searchable and email you when they are ready. You download them to your MedKaz 3.0 with two clicks!

Can I read my records on my MedKaz 3.0?

Yes. You can log on anytime to read any record. You also can learn about any illness mentioned in your doctor’s progress note by clicking on Health Links (on your MedKaz 3.0) and selecting an information site such as Mayo Clinic or WebMD.

Can I and my care providers trust the records on my MedKaz 3.0? Can I or anyone else change them?

Yes. You and your care providers can trust records on your MedKaz®.

You can create addenda to correct mistakes but neither you nor anyone else can change a clinical record.

You can “hide” a record if, for example, it is a duplicate, but you cannot delete or remove it. And you or your providers can instantly display all “hidden” records at anytime.

How much is MedKaz 3.0 and who pays for it?

MedKaz 3.0 is an annual subscription service. It includes a MedKaz 3.0 and our annual Update & Support Service. You pay only $4.50 per month, or $49.50 annually. (Family and Group Packs are less per MedKaz.)

Your expected savings far exceed this cost. In the future, we expect insurers, employers and government to pay — because they save the most money. When they do, MedKaz® will be free to you!

Why is MedKaz 3.0 a minidrive rather than a smartphone app?

Because, according to Pew Research, more than 32 million adult Americans — most of whom are heavy users of healthcare — do not own smartphones! They include almost 22 million senior citizens (39% of Medicare’s 56 million insureds) and more than 10 million, or 29%, of those with annual incomes under $50K. In contrast, anyone can afford and use MedKaz 3.0. (When more own smartphones, we’ll consider offering MedKaz 3.0 as an app.)

Is MedKaz 3.0 hard to use?

No. If you can log onto a computer, perform a search and read a document in a browser, you can use MedKaz 3.0.

Can I share my records with my loved ones?

Yes. Our Share-With-All feature on MedKaz 3.0 enables you to share your records with anyone you choose. Elderly parents with their adult children. Children with their parents. Patients with care givers, long-term care providers, researchers, and others.

What if I lose my MedKaz 3.0 or it gets corrupted?

You back up your MedKaz 3.0 every time you use it. If you lose it or it gets corrupted, you simply recover your backed up records to a new MedKaz 3.0. Both backup and recovery are easy and fast.

Can my records be breached or stolen? Are they secure?

MedKaz 3.0 is the most secure system available because we do not  store your records. When your records have been downloaded, we erase them from our Server.  When they are on your MedKaz 3.0, they are encrypted and password controlled.

This does require that you back up your MedKaz® when you use it, preferably to an external drive, but our advanced, automated Back Up procedure is very fast and makes this very easy to do. Similarly, our advanced Recovery procedure is very fast and easy to use.

Can anyone download my records from my MedKaz 3.0?

Not without your permission. If your doctor or anyone else wants a copy of a record, you must enter your password before they can download it.

PHYSICIANS & HEALTH SYSTEMS FAQs

  • You use your patient’s MedKaz 3.0 alongside your EMR or paper charting system even during a telehealth visit, and in place of your records if your system is down for any reason.

  • Unlike your EMR experience, MedKaz 3.0 is free to you, requires no special training, is simple to use, blends seamlessly into your workflow, gives you more time to talk with your patients.

  • Gives you complete picture of your patients’ care from other providers; saves you time with each patient, increases your income.

  • Your patients enjoy peace of mind, better care, better health; experience fewer medical mistakes, tests, sick days; save deductibles, copays.

We have a very powerful EMR system. Why should we bother with MedKaz 3.0?

Because MedKaz 3.0 does what your system can’t do. It:

  • Gives you access to your patients’ complete medical record from all their providers, in the ER, exam room, during a telehealth visit — even when your system is down due to a power outage or ransomware.
  • Contains patients’ early records that may no longer be available from their other providers, and information they may no longer remember about their early illnesses and treatments.
  • Enables your patient, using our Share-With-Providers feature, to automatically send copies of your notes to other providers who treat them for the same illness and, similarly, send you records of their encounters with other providers.
  • Enables you to deliver better, lower-cost care by avoiding medical errors, unnecessary visits, tests and procedures.
  • Saves you time with each patient which you can use to talk with them.
  • Is a new source of revenue and profits. Group practices and hospitals, depending upon their size, can receive several hundred thousand to millions of dollars in additional revenue and profit.
  • Most importantly, by making total interoperability possible today, important changes in the way care is delivered, organized and paid for can be adopted.

I prefer paper charts. I'm not interested in EMR systems.

MedKaz 3.0 is charting-system agnostic. It enables you to coordinate your patients’ care even if you keep paper charts. But if you use it together with our special Patient Record Manager application, you can have your cake and eat it, too.

You’ll also be able to enjoy the practice-management benefits of electronic records. For example, when you are notified of a drug recall or a disease alert, you’ll be able to instantly generate a list of your patients affected, along with their contact information, so you can immediately contact them.

Is this just another fly-by-night system? Here today, gone tomorrow?

On the contrary, it works today with all electronic and paper systems, and it will work tomorrow with whatever systems you or others adopt. It’s the most versatile and probably the easiest system to use that you’ve ever seen.

And because it works with any and all systems, it makes it easy for practices and hospitals using different EMR systems to merge or work together in an ACO. They each can enjoy total interoperability with MedKaz 3.0 even though their own systems can’t share their patients’ records.

We’re not allowed to plug a minidrive into our computers.

That’s fine. In fact, we recommend you not plug your patient’s Medkaz 3.0 into your system. Instead, plug it into a standalone computer, and use it alongside your charting system. This way, your system can’t be exposed to malicious software; neither can your patient’s MedKaz. 3.0.

As discussed below, the one time cost of a standalone computer is less than $300. This investment is dwarfed by your new revenue stream which can easily exceed $4,000 annually per provider!

How do I use MedKaz 3.0?

When you log on, a current Health Summary (and possibly a Referral Request and Complaint Report) opens in a browser. You visually scan them quickly to understand your patient’s issues — saving you three to six minutes which you can use to talk with your patient.

  • As you examine your patient and want to know about his or her care from other providers, you can instantly search their MedKaz 3.0 — without having to flip through multiple screens — and read their other doctors’ notes (you can even download copies to your system as searchable documents or structured-data).
  • When you have finished, you enter your progress notes in your charting system as usual. Your computer or assistant uploads a copy to our Server.

How much does MedKaz® cost me or my practice?

Nothing! Instead, it actually generates substantial new income for you — as much as $4,000 or more annually per care provider!

Instead of you paying us, we pay you when you upload a copy of your patient’s encounter record to our MedKaz® Server. If your EMR system is programmed appropriately, it uploads records automatically. Otherwise, an assistant can upload them.

Your only cost is the one time cost to equip your exam rooms with free-standing computers (less than $300 per computer). This cost is dwarfed by your annual new revenue stream which can easily exceed $4,000 annually per care provider. Your ROI will be extraordinary!

In the future, we expect employers, insurers and government to offer MedKaz® as a wellness benefit, and pay our subscription fee and other incentives, such as a premium over your normal office visit reimbursement rate when you use your patient’s MedKaz® during a visit. It’s in their self-interest to do so because MedKaz® enables you to reduce the cost of care, and they are the ones who enjoy the bulk of the savings.

Must I change my EMR system to accommodate MedKaz 3.0?

No. But if your tech people make the following simple changes, uploading your patients’ records will be fully automatic. (Pardon the tech speak!)

  • Add three data fields to your EMR patient record: a checkbox to indicate the patient has a MedKaz 3.0, a field to include a MedKaz ID number, and a field for your patient’s photograph.
  • Write a simple procedure instructing your system’s server to automatically upload a patient record and CCD document generated by your server, to our MedKaz Server following each visit.

I'm too busy. I don't have time to learn to use MedKaz 3.0.

No special training is required! If you can perform a search and read a document in a browser, you’ll manage it easily and so will your patients.

EMPLOYERS, INSURERS, GOVERNMENT FAQs

  • You enjoy happier, healthier employees/insureds, less abenteeism, greater productivity, fewer insurance claims and reduced health insurance costs.

  • Your employees/insureds enjoy peace of mind, better care and better health. They’ll also need fewer tests and sick days — saves them deductibles and copays, and you the cost of care that’s not required.

  • Providers treating your employees can coordinate their care, provide better care at lower cost and increase their income.

How can we improve healthcare and reduce its cost? Isn't that up to care providers?

Yes. But you pay the providers. So you have both a strong interest in reducing costs, and the financial clout to nudge care providers to do so. When the savings begin to flow, both you and your shareholders will benefit handsomely!

The place to start is to ensure providers can access their patient’s complete medical record at the point of care — even during a power outage or ransomware shutdown. You can accomplish this by offering financial incentives to care providers and patients to embrace MedKaz.

For care providers, you can increase their payment when they treat a MedKaz owner. For employees/insureds, you can pay them a wellness benefit to carry MedKaz, or reduce their share of their health insurance premium.

We’re happy with the wellness benefits we offer. Why add MedKaz 3.0?

With MedKaz 3.0, your employees’ doctors can materially reduce the cost of your health insurance by coordinating their care and avoiding costly mistakes and unnecessary visits, tests, procedures. You enjoy the bulk of these savings; your employees/insureds save deductibles and copays.

It also offers very important intangible benefits for your employees and your company.

By offering it as a wellness benefit, it helps you retain your current workforce and attract new employees. It “tells” them  that you care about them, their health and their beneficiaries’ health.

Second, it enables your employees to be better manage their own care, share their records with their providers and loved ones, enjoy better outcomes and save money

How much does MedKaz 3.0 cost?

Purchased by an employer, insurer or government agency, the cost can be as low as $4.00 per participant per month.

An individual can subscribe to MedKaz® 3.0 for only $4.50 per month or $49.50 per year. Family Packs are even less per individual.

This cost is easily recovered when one mistake, visit or unnecessary test is avoided. When extensive blood tests, MRIs, CT Scans, a day in an ICU, or a night in the hospital are avoided, you’ll save thousands of dollars!

How does MedKaz 3.0 work?

When a patient requires care, he gives his MedKaz 3.0 to his doctor who logs on and reads a current Health Summary and other documents that quickly update her on her patient’s issues.

  • As she examines her patient and needs to understand his current and prior care from other doctors, she electronically searches for and reads specific records on his MedKaz 3.0.
  • Also, if the patient changes any personal information, such his address or employer, we automatically send a copy of the changes to each provider so they can update their records.

What if MedKaz 3.0 is lost or corrupted?

It’s encrypted so the records are secure. The employee/insured simply recovers their backed-up records to a new MedKaz 3.0.

Why would doctors and hospitals support MedKaz 3.0?

For three simple reasons.

  • It enables them to deliver, better, coordinated, lower-cost care to their patients — even during telehealth visits, power outages and ransomware-triggered shutdowns.
  • It can materially increase their income. Depending upon the size of their practice or organization, physicians, hospitals and ACOs can earn tens of $thousands or $millions more annually.
  • It makes possible fundamental changes in the way healthcare is delivered, the delivery system is organized, and providers are paid — including the emergence of retail urgent care centers, ACOs, and value-based care.
